Sacred Earth Acknowledgement
We express our heart-felt gratitude for our Mother Earth that gives us life, nourishes us, supports us as we learn and grow, and is our greatest strength. We act with reverence, respect, and reciprocity in all that we do. We acknowledge the swimmers, the flyers, the crawlers, the four legged and the two legged, for we are all one.
We acknowledge the First Peoples who have lived, stewarded, and thrived on these lands for thousands of years and who remind us of our most important relationship with that which is sacred. We specifically acknowledge the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, and the many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples that call the lands around Toronto their home. We recognize the Dish with One Spoon treaty to share and protect these lands in equitable and sustainable ways and are grateful to be invited to participate in this treaty of peace, friendship, and respect.
We acknowledge all our ancestors that have walked these lands before us and those that continue to walk with us on this journey to a more harmonious world.
We acknowledge our responsibility to think of those yet to come and to leave them a world that is capable of providing an abundant life.
With love in our hearts, we say Miigwech, Meh-du, Merci, Duyakuyu, Thank you.
