Rachel brings more than a decade of experience in food security within First Nations communities. Rachel’s focus is on developing food forests and seed banks throughout Northern Ontario, food security programming and working with youth and women. Rachel is owner/operator of Black River Foraging Co. (BRFC), a part-time social enterprise she started in 2016 based at her small ecological farm where she produces a range of seasonally handcrafted herbal products and authentic outdoor experiences like plant walks and land-based skills workshops. Through her BRFC work, she is increasing awareness of the importance of reconnecting with our local traditional foods and food systems and rebuilding healthy local food sources and capacity for Indigenous families and communities. Rachel is currently completing her studies as a Clinical Herbalist and lives off-grid with her husband and 4 children in Timmins, ON where they operate a small ecological farm.
Our vision is a global network of healthy, vibrant, thriving communities and people, living their true potential.
